Cesar E. Raymundo, Jr. was born on February 7, 1937 in Manila, Philippines. He was the sixth of thirteen children born to Cesar Raymundo, Sr. and Juana Enriquez. An ambitious student, Cesar attended San Juan Elementary School, Roosevelt High School, and Rodriguez Vocational School in Manila. He was a hard worker and provider for his family. Cesar had three children with his first wife, Alicia. In pursuit of a better life in the United States, Cesar immigrated to New Jersey in 1971, and worked as an HVAC mechanic in Alexian Brothers Hospital and the Singer Corporation in Elizabeth before beginning a thirty-year career at Schering-Plough in Kennilworth.
Cesar enjoyed the company of his friends in Elizabeth. He was active in his bowling league and also played golf and softball. Cesar married his second wife, Veronica, in 1979, and they had a daughter in 1980. In 1981, Cesar and Veronica moved their family from Elizabeth to Colonia, where they became parishioners at St. John Vianney Church.
Cesar's two daughters in the Philippines were able to join him in New Jersey in 1991 and 2003. He was happy to have his children together. Cesar retired from Schering-Plough in2010. He spent his retirement years travelling with his wife, Veronica, and relaxing at home, where he enjoyed spending time with his daughters and grandchildren. Health issues during his last few years made it difficult for Cesar to get to Church, but he faithfully tuned into EWTN every morning for daily Mass. He passed away in his home in Colonia on February8, 2022, one day after his 85th Birthday.
Cesar is predeceased by his parents, Cesar Raymundo, Sr. and Juana Enriquez, his son, Cesar Raymundo III, his first wife, Alicia Dulduco, and seven of his siblings. He is survived by his family in New Jersey, including his wife, Veronica Raymundo, three daughters, Victoria Raymundo, Maria Raymundo, and Joanna Velazquez, son-in-law, Freddy Velazquez, and his five grandchildren, John, Rebecca, Alessandra, Sarah, and Abigail Velazquez. He is also survived by five of his siblings in the Philippines.
Cesar was a loving husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and friend. He had a kind heart and generous spirit, embodying true Filipino hospitality underneath his serious exterior. He always made sure everyone in his home was well fed, whether they were guests for the day at their annual Christmas party, or staying several weeks for an extended family visit. Although he never won the lottery (which he said he prayed for), Cesar financed the college education of his four children and helped support the education of his grandchildren. This was his proudest accomplishment.
Visitation will take place on Sunday February 13th from 1-5PM at 660 New Dover Road Edison, NJ.
