When you have zero expectations, everything else is just a pleasant surprise. It’s not a cynical and negative point of view. I actually think it’s a very optimistic point of view. It speaks to my internal confidence and internal gratitude and empathy.Having zero expectations is a cognitive trait that has lead me to become more independent. I don’t need anything from anyone else. I’m not expecting anything.

Not having expectations is like having no standards. You can expect nothing and still get a bad outcome whether you expect it or not. I get the point of your post, but a lowered expectation doesn't make people happy. It makes them complacent. You are mostly talking about not having everyone and everything judged at the highest level. I get that. But removal of expectations isn't the answer. A measured approach of motivating people and making positive change and letting things go is where you are going with this. If I go to a soup kitchen and my soup comes after my dinner and is cold, I'm not happy about it. Even if I let go of expecting soup at all. But working on yourself and picking your battles, everything doesn't have to be a battle. Is it worth a blow up over bad service or poor quality? Probably not. Pick the right fights and pick the fights that can make the most change for the positive.

How sad it must be to think so little of yourself and others that you don't expect success, joy or trust (among other wonderful things). I'll stick with the other gurus on this one.Expect the best and get it.~ Norman Vincent PealeYou were born to win, but to be a winner, you must plan to win, prepare to win, and expect to win.~ Zig ZiglarExpect the best, plan for the worst, and prepare to be surprised.~ Dennis WaitleyWhatever we expect with confidence becomes our own self-fulfilling prophecy.~ Brian TracyWhen you expect things to happen - strangely enough - they do happen.~ J.P. Happiness is intricately tied to our expectations—how we perceive and measure our experiences against what we anticipate. Consider this: if you visit a grocery store on a quiet Tuesday morning, expecting a swift in-and-out, but instead find yourself stuck in a 45-minute checkout line, frustration would likely wash over you.Yet, imagine waiting only 45 minutes for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Disney World. You would be thrilled, perhaps even feel as if you had won the day. This contrast is something I reflect on often. It’s not that we should diminish our expectations of one another or the world around us, but we should recognize the power they hold over our emotions. When you understand that your expectations shape your happiness, it might be worth pausing to ask yourself: Are my expectations fair and reasonable for this person, for this moment, for this experience? In that awareness, we find a path not to lower our expectations, but to align them with reality, cultivating peace and understanding within ourselves.

Forget zero expectations of others—I’m doubling down on having ridiculous expectations of myself. After all, who better to challenge than the one person who can’t hide when I don’t deliver? Let’s see how high I can fly!

This is a negative energy position. With this mind set you can’t effectively team, aid the development of others, or effectively lead . This is a self-centered apathetic position that leads to losing and isolation.

I agree. The best thing I ever did was release my expectations of others. People consistently surprise me. I often shine bright and many people can't handle that. By letting go of how I expect others to treat me, and by learning to treat myself that way first was a ground-breaking concept, one I've embraced. It doesn't mean I stand for fools. One shot with me.. Blow it and we're done. 😁

Way too many think there’s a “right way” ... I often take note when someone asks me “yeah, but what’s the right way” ... I worry that for many they think there’s a “right” ...the reality is even the most universal “rights” may not be right for you … there’s only “rights” or things that “work” for you ... but you need to attempt things and be willing to make mistakes and “lose” to find out which ones those are.

Today's video is a great meeting I had with Habib Salo, where I share my two cents about the benefits of being remarkable at organic content. We talk about how organic social is going to be the most important thing in marketing, the advantages of being intentional about partnering with influencers, and being razor-focused on your audience. Hope you enjoy!

The comfort zone is knowing there is no comfort zone.Say "yes" more ..I know it's scary .. I know you think you have to know how it all works out, but please understand this. Whatever decision you make, it will get you somewhere.A decision is just a single moment in your career. In the scheme of things, it really doesn't matter as long as you're moving forward. this is a shout out to all that understand the bigger the goal the more discomfort you’ll need to expect ..it’s the reality 🏆

Cutting toxic employees, regardless of their skills, is always the right move. The biggest things that will make your company go fast are ..1) continuity 2) lack of politics. That’s why it doesn’t matter how “great” an employee’s numbers are if he or she makes all the other employees miserable. If they constantly spread negativity or drag other employees down and their behavior doesn't improve after getting feedback, it doesn’t matter how good they are on paper.
