IN THIS ISSUEThis week in RTDoctor Who is one of the few programmes that is watched as a family in Law Towers. Everyone has his or her “own Doctor”. The two youngest have almost come to blows over the differing merits of David Tennant and Matt Smith. At which point I explain that neither could hold a candle to the best Doctor to grace a Tardis, Patrick Troughton. Last week it was put in perspective when my granddaughter sagely explained that she knew of no other Time Lord than Peter Capaldi. Sadly, that will soon no longer be the case, with an imminent regeneration.The latest series has been terrific and the two-part finale that starts on Saturday night should be the icing on the cake. Nearly 200 years later, it’s one of the most copied images on earth (being used to sell everything from the Cookie Monster to socks), although an original print recently made nearly $1 million at auction in New York.
